The Late Pudu Jail

One of our prominent landmarks in KL is no more. If you are one of those people who passes by Pudu Jail on a daily basis to work or vice versa, you would not get to see it anymore. As of Sunday, 20th June of 2010, 10PM the walls of the 115 year old Pudu Jail were thorned down. This marks the beginning of the demolition of the entire structure.

The wall in particular is a 394 meters long prison wall which contains a mural painted by prisoners with 2000 liters of paint. For those of you who could not get to say your final farewell or visit the place on time, i’m here to share you my pics which i took at noon on that faithful day.

With the demolition of Pudu Jail, UDA Holdings Bhd will build a mixed development project which will accommodate a transit centre, service apartments, offices, recreation centres, a hotel and business space and i thought they were building an underpass? I see so much greed, i just want to die. Anyway, you can rest in peace now, Pudu jail. You’ve seen and heard much during your time.
