Max Riefer: From The Recesses Of Time – 6th Composers Concert Series 2015

Faculty of Music UiTM and The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) proudly present the 6th Composers Concert Series 2015 in collaboration of the Society of Contemporary Malaysian Composers (SMCC). This year’s special guests include Mireia Frutos (piano, Spain) and Min-Yung (cello, South Korea/Germany). Presenting lecturers and students in New Music Ensemble, Voices performing new contemporary works by composition students and works by other composers. These concerts showcase the pool of talent at the Faculty of Music displaying both composition and performance prowess.

Also this year it was very fortunate to have guest performers Mireia Frutos (Spain), Min-Yung (South Korea), in collaboration with Birmingham Conservatoire UK, UiTM’s own Faculty of Music staff, senior lecturers, creative scholar and lecturers Dr Nathan Fischer (USA), Max Riefer (Germany), Dr. Masashi Kishimoto (Japan), Munir Mahzair and Juwairiyah Zakaria. Directed by Max Riefer, this series promises the premieres of many new works by students composers, young composers and more established composers such as Michael Smetanin (guest composer, Australia), Dr Tazul Tajuddin (Faculty), Dr Katia Tiutiunnik (Faculty of Music/Australia), Dr Valerie Ross (Faculty), Adam Masumi (Faculty), Dr Aaron Travers (USA), Sayyid Shafiee, Wan Azlan among others ably performed by lectures and students alike. The diversity of forms, styles and genres showcased a highly exciting programme of creative explorations throughout this season of music making.
