Becoming King – Part 2

“Becoming King – the pakyung revisited insists that the audience is engaged and not passive. The ultimate artistic vision is to create production that can resonate with both local and global audiences. The performance will include an interactive section with the audience, where every member of the audience is asked to cast their vote for the most suitable candidate (in their opinion) – making every night a different performance! The post-performance question and answer session is vital to gauge and analyse these responses.

The choreography has been a collaborative effort with the dancers, who are from Aswara, with new commissioned music by Ng Chor Guan, and Media design by Jazmi Jamal. This time we have added the expertise of Loh Kok Man for lighting design and Lian Kian Lek for set design.

The production is presented by ASWARA (The Faculty of Dance), and its development was supported by the Krishen Jit-Astro Fund 2014 and Sime Darby Foundation. In 2015, it is presented in conjunction with the Asian League of Institutions for the Arts (ALIA), held at ASWARA.
